If you been following SEO or ways to optimization your site's ranking, you might have heard about site speed affect your ranking. There has been a lots of debate on this issue on the web in the past.

On April 2010, Google has made it official that they have added an additional signal that help site rank better - the speed of your site affect your ranking simply because that overall performance give user a better web experience.

Here are some free tools on the web they recommend webmasters use to gauge the performance of their site.

Page Speed, an open source Firefox/Firebug add-on that evaluates the performance of web pages and gives suggestions for improvement.

YSlow, a free tool from Yahoo! that suggests ways to improve website speed.

WebPagetest shows a waterfall view of your pages' load performance plus an optimization checklist.
